CLIENTS, COFFEE AND VENISON: Bubba Vlasek
I constantly find myself boasting about how wonderful our clients are... without a doubt some of the most delightful, interesting and amusing people I have ever met. It’s a funny thing when you call or stop by to provide a personal update and end up having the best conversation you’ve had in a while over a cup of coffee and are sent back to the office with pounds fresh venison - what can I say... I love my job! That said, I wanted to share with you some of the great people that I have the pleasure of working for:
Louis Vlasek, who everybody knows as Bubba, has lived in the Hill Country since 1942 and has made a comfortable living building roads and houses. Visiting Bubba is one of my absolute favorite things to do. He is surrounded by his family on a beautiful compound in Hunt, TX and has regular visitors that also enjoy his warm and inviting nature.
We have had a blast romping around his property with him in his golf cart, sipping coffee and enjoying stories about the area and how his family, the Vlaseks (a name that is very well known), settled in the hill country in the early 1900s. My favorite saying of his came after asking him what he had done over the years for a living... his response was, “Child, I invented the dirt!” No matter how hard we try, he never ever allows us to leave without bags and bags of venison and smoked chicken that he processed himself. He is a living legend and someone I can honestly say I am so fortunate to know.
