Mountain Home, TX

Welcome to Mountain Home

Escape to Mountain Home, Texas, a beautiful, rustic retreat in the heart of the Texas Hill Country where ranching and farming are still very much alive.

Mountain Home, at the intersection of State Highway 27 (which runs here along the Old Spanish Trail) and State Highway 41 in north-central Kerr County, was settled around 1856. The town was called Eura for a brief period in the early twentieth century. The community had a store, a motel, and a church. Ranching has always been the principal business. Mountain Home is the location of the Texas Fisheries Research Station and the Texas Catholic Boys Camp. The Hill Country Cowboy Camp Meeting is held at the Y.O. Ranch, an authentic 19th-century ranch that houses a variety of exotic animals.
